At least the Twinkies are now on a 2 game winning streak! Beating the mighty WSox twice!!!
Griffith was most definitely a racist, but give him credit for signing a lot of Latin American players (no doubt cuz he could get them cheaper). What is the Herr book you wrote about?
Your question made me realize an inadvertently dropped a paragraph from the above ramble. It's now been restored... and I'm grateful to you! The book is “Calvin: Baseball's Last Dinosaur,” by John Kerr, 1990. Very apologetic about the screw-up that you prompted me to find. (Wish I could blame someone other than me, ha.)
Wow! Thanks for the baseball history lesson. The Twins were nearly double-trumped! That is, Donald Trump came close to buying the ball club, and that means he would have probably ruined & lost it, too.
Yeah, I suspect one reason ol' Calvin DIDN'T sell to DJT was that he may have sensed it would have meant the Twins moving out of Minnesota. DJT had no particular interest in the Midwest... then OR now. It's also worth noting, many DJT-owned enterprises were dismal flops. (Let's hope our once-great country does not become one of them!) Thanks much for weighing in, Chuck.

I was wondering if it was former 2b Tommy Herr!
